The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellen Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995)

After the success of Siamese Dream, singer and guitarist Billy Corgan had great confidence in songwriting. He wrote many songs that were enough for an ambitious double album. Aimed to be the London Calling for generation x, it has a good start with string orchestration on "Tonight, Tonight" and followed by some good rockers like "Zero", "Thirty-Three", "1979" and "X.Y.U." The hurdle for it being great is some love songs sound very adolescent. C
