The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland (1968)
This double album is Hendrix's third and the last released before his death. Hendrix was famous for his studio perfectionism that he did multiple takes on every song here. With many musician guests hanging around during the recording session, notably guitarist Dave Mason from Traffic, drummer Buddy Miles who would later join his Band of Gypsy, bassist Jack Cassidy from Jefferson Airplane, and organist Al Kooper from Bob Dylan's session team, Hendrix played various musical genres here, from the straightforward rock and roll "Come On", "Gypsy Eyes", "House Burning Down" to long blues jam "Voodoo Chile" to the psychedelic, hallucinated title track. A staple from here is his arrangement of "All Along the Watchtower" by Bob Dylan, the songwriter he greatly admired. A
