The Jam - Sound Affect (1980)

Sound Affect came when The Jam was in their commercial peak. Before it was released, they released a single "Going Underground" which shot to no 1 in UK chart. Then the single they cut here, "Start!", with a bassline of The Beatles' "Taxman", also went straight to no 1. However, old fans would prefer the more down-to-earth songs from previous albums All Mod Cons and Setting Sons than the rather psychedelic sound in Sound Affect. C
