The Jam - All Mod Cons (1978)

After two punk albums, The Jam focused on conventional rock songs in All Mod Cons. Punk retains here with "David Watts", a Kinks cover, "Billy Hunt" and "'A' Bomb in Wardour Street". "To be Someone" is a great hard-rock song; "Down in the Tube Station at Midnight" was about the conflict between punks and skinheads; "In the Crowd" and "English Rose" are thoughtful ballads; "It's Too Bad" is probably the blueprint for future melodic-punk genre. All Mod Cons is arguably The Jam's best album. A
