Billy Bragg - Workers Playtime (1988)

From the album title and cover artwork, it's plain to see the theme is based on the pre-modernized China. Bragg wrote and sang about the factories and the working life in the eastern block with his trademark English accent. The focal point is on last track "Waiting for the Great Leap Forward", a song inspired by Chairman Mao's late 50s economic plan, which starts as a light ballad that turns into a powerhouse.
